BIOGRAPHY
My name is Irene Roberta Mele (b. 2001, Lecce, Italy), a visual artist based in Milan.
My practice is based on experimentation and the exploration of new expressive forms, addressing themes such as memory, space-time, and the relationship between humans and nature. I investigate the abstraction of nature through the collection and cataloguing of elements as visual and conceptual traces.
I work primarily with photography and analog printing techniques, including cyanotype, exploring the transposition of images onto different surfaces and their dialogue with painting, sculpture, and drawing.
I graduated in Photography from IED in 2023 and attended Chippendale Studio in 2024, focusing on independent and self-publishing practices. In 2025, I was an artist in residence at SpazioXNoi-Intesa San Paolo Bank, where I presented solo exhibitions and a site-specific work for the Milano Centrale Festival. I participated at The Art Chapter with Xilema (2025) and Desidus (2026).
In 2024, I co-founded La Broderie with Angelina Bavaro, a concept studio and virtual hub dedicated to artistic research.
